Pink Block
wood, glass, acrylic, bottles, 2008
59 x 24 x 22 inches
Growing up in Phoenix, I was exposed to many Native American images and objects. I was particularly drawn to the Hopi Kachina Doll sculpture which could be found everywhere. Pink Block continues to fuse Hopi Kachina traditions, Southeastern folk art interests with contemporary sculpture. The knife handle can be interpreted as a cartoon-like nose similar to Block Head by Paul McCarthy. |
